Unity Church of Austin's Prayer Healing Ministry currently offers treatments at 7:00 p.m. on the first Monday of the month, beginning in February, 2008. A new expanded schedule will be developed later in the year.

What is the Prayer and Healing Ministry?
A Prayer Healing treatment combines focused prayer and a Reiki treatment. Reiki is a hands-on spiritual healing art, known in the West as laying-on of hands. A Reiki session is performed by a Reiki practitioner, laying hands on a recipient’s body in specific positions. Universal healing energy flows through the practitioner’s hands to stimulate the recipient’s own healing energies. The recipient is fully clothed and lies comfortably on a massage table.
The combination of Reiki energy with the heartfelt prayers of the practitioners makes for a powerfully relaxing and peaceful experience.
What can I expect at a session?
You will enter the dimly lit chapel with music playing softly and candles quietly glowing. After signing in at the entryway table, you can take a seat and wait to be escorted to one of the many massage tables. There you will meet a trained Prayer Healing practitioner seated in a meditative silence. You lie down, fully clothed, on the table. The practitioner will invite you to close your eyes, breathe, and state your intention for the session. In response to your stated intention, the practitioner will create and softly speak a prayer before beginning the Reiki treatment. Soon you will gently drift into prayer and meditation guided by the warm, light touch of communion with another at the Source.

How do I reserve a session?
To make an appointment for a Monday evening healing session, call 892-3000 during church office hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday), or sign up on the clip board in the Fireside Room on Sunday morning.

How can I give the gift of a session to others?
You can purchase gift certificates in the Unity Bookstore for $15. The bookstore is open Sundays after each service on Sunday. The bookstore accepts cash,or checks.
